Somehow over this summer holiday I have managed to fit in a little bit of crochet in between the chaos and been trying to challenge myself a little more.
My first project was the crochet flower heart wreath Eva had spotted over my shoulder whilst I was scrolling through Pinterest.
The wreath Eva spotted on PinterestI hunted around the flat and found some gardening wire to make the heart shape and quickly got to work crocheting 18 flowers & 18 leaves, letting Eva pick the colours and sequence of the flowers.
Once all the flowers & leaves were finished we got to work attaching them to the wire to see how it looked and after a bit of neatening up we ended up with the wreath below…
Next time I will use thicker wool/yarn to make the flowers sturdier and a sturdier wire too as it is fairly floppy but sits well once hung.
Eva decided she didn’t want any buttons or extras added in the end and it is currently hung up on her bedroom door.
I really enjoyed making the wreath and definitely want to try a few different ideas soon!
I also managed to crochet Izzy a little handbag big enough for a fruit shoot & crisps/fruit bag for walks to the park which she seems to love!
I’m really enjoying getting creative with crochet but only knowing the basic stitches was starting to bore me so I decided to have a look around and find a new stitch to learn.
After a little look around I decided to try out the 4 point star stitch (Marguerite stitch) which is really easy once you get the hang of it and look lovely!
My first attempt was quite loose but with a different hook I think it will look much better now I’ve worked it out.
I love how quickly you can learn a new stitch especially with such great tutorials on the internet! I decided to start again with my favourite hook and was much more pleased with how the 4 point star stitch turned out.. What do you think?

That wreath is beautiful! I am a novice knitter and I love it when I learn something new. I am in the middle of knitting my first lace pattern baby blanket. That purple bag is so cute.xx #bigpinklink

Wow!! I'm seriously impressed with your skills!! The bag and the wreath are just gorgeous. I'd love to knit and crochet, but unfortunately they've fallen down the list of things I'd like to do for myself over the last 4 years!! But both children are about to be in nursery 2 days a week, so I'm looking forward to regaining some creativity, and sewing/knitting/crochet are all at the top of my list! Thank you, your comment has really made my day 😁 I learnt to knit first and stopped for around 2/3 years as I never seemed to find the time, but when you do it's lovely to feel like you've achieved something with each make, big or small! I'm sure you will really enjoy it too 😊 x

I love using the waffle stitch. I also love the crocodile (dragon) scale stitch, but I have yet to come up with a suitable project for it

I've only stuck to basic crochet stitches so far (currently I'm making a blanket which is mainly half trebles) but I have a project in mind for the new year and I'm hoping to widen my repertoire a little bit, the star stitch looks like it would be worth a go. Beautiful, your girls are lucky to have such lovely stuff made for them. I like the sound of cupcake stitch (I think you mentioned it in a previous post?) I don't know how to do it, but it sounds fun! #craftingismytherapy
